Ganderbal, Jun 01 (KNO): Residents of Wani Mohalla in Kangan area are up in arms against the power development department (PDD) because their electric transformer develops frequent technical snags. The transformer was damaged third time in the last few days due to which the entire area is reeling under darkness. Local residents alleged that department is wasting money in repairing it again and again instead of changing a few metres of wire which can solve the problem. "The 63 KV transformer was upgraded to 100 KV in 2012 and then it was upgraded to 250 in year 2016 but unfortunately old electric poles and LT line was not changed," a local resident of Wani Mohalla, told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He said that officials assured them that the LT line will be replaced but nothing happened later. “Our transformer was damaged and later it was shifted to PDD workshop at Ganderbal where engineers repaired it. However, again it was damaged and then shifted to the workshop again for repair repair it. Now again it has developed some technical snag,” residents told Kashmir News Observer. Another local said that they are paying their monthly tariffs in time but the department fails to provide them the electricity. He said that they approached the concerned department many times to no avail—(KNO)
